Ciaran
I played basketball at Harvard after being fortunate enough to receive over 30 Division 1 offers. I always believed my edge was not simply in my basketball skills, but my health habits. My dad practiced functional medicine which meant no processed foods in the kitchen. While my friends snacked on Uncrustables and Gushers, I often felt frustrated with my bowl of rice bran cereal and fruit.
However, when I started competing seriously in sports, I noticed performance improvements when I was eating healthy. I had more energy than my competitors, recovered faster after tough workouts, and rarely got injured.
When I got to Harvard, I expected optimal nutrition. Instead team snacks were packed with sugar and a long list of artificial additives. The opposite of what we need.
Soon after, I connected with Elisha, who shared similar values.
Elisha
After joining the Harvard tennis team as a walk-on, I dealt with several season-ending injuries.Â
In my journey to make the starting lineup, I quickly realized that the best thing I could do for my game was stay on the court.Â
I embraced anything that could help me stay healthy; clean nutrition became a cornerstone of my routine. When I took a semester off to prioritize my health, I started looking more closely at what I was being fed as an athlete – most of the food marketed to athletes was full of inflammatory ingredients.Â
Thus, Ciaran and I teamed up to create the cleanest sports nutrition company on the market. Real performance begins with real food.
Starting Skye
At Harvard, we connected over a shared passion for human performance. Our frustration with processed snacks in our locker rooms motivated us to create our own. With little cooking experience, our first batches were rough. We started to spend early mornings and late nights in the kitchen between class, athletics, and work, determined to create the ideal product.
After much experimentation, we came up with our first product: Skye Crisps. Friends, family, and fellow teammates kept asking for more. We knew we had to find a manufacturer. When we started our search, we were met with a community of doubters who told us that our product would fail without preservatives and artificial additives.Â
We considered lowering our standards. However, we couldn’t get past the idea of creating a product we ourselves wouldn’t want to eat. We kept pushing and eventually found a team aligned with our vision.
Today, Skye is dedicated to crafting the highest-quality products to help athletes perform at their full potential. We are grateful and honored to serve this community.Â
